ROCHEFORT

BOURCEFRANC-LE-CHAPUS
MARENNES ET SES ENVIRONS
Près du pont de l'île d'Oléron, visitez celui que l'on surnomme " le petit frère de Fort Boyard " ! Ce fort maritime, édifié par Vauban, est construit en mer sur le rocher du Chapus. Il est relié au port par une chaussée submersible de 400 m. Accès à pied ou en bateau selon la saison et les marées.
Come and visit what is known as "Fort Boyard's Baby Brother" near the bridge to the Ile d'Oléron. This maritime fort was built at sea by Vauban on the rocher du Chapus. There is a tidal causeway linking it to the port 400m away. Access by foot or by boat depending upon the tide and season.

BARZAN / ROYAN ET SES ENVIRONS
Après 2000 ans de mystère, le site archéologique du Fâ dévoile peu à peu les vestiges d'une ville portuaire gallo-romaine de plus de 40 ha. Aujourd'hui, un musée présente les objets issus des fouilles et un parcours de visite extérieur autour des thermes et du temple vous accueille pour découvrir la ville antique.
After being shrouded in mystery for 2000 years, the archaeological site of Le Fâ is gradually revealing the remains of a Gallo-Roman port town covering over 40 hectares. There is a museum presenting objects found during excavations and an outside visitors' trail to explore the thermal baths and temple and discover the Ancient town.

ROYAN
Installé dans les murs de l'ancien marché de Pontaillac, le musée retrace l'histoire de Royan, selon un parcours chronologique complet, mêlant collections et panneaux explicatifs. Au centre du musée, le vaste hall propose tout au long de l'année de nouvelles manifestations culturelles aux thématiques variées (histoire, art, musique…).

SAINT-GEORGES -DE-DIDONNE / ROYAN ET SES ENVIRONS
Built in 1900, the lighthouse rises to 36 m and has 144 steps! Square in section, the whole is topped with a copper dome surmounted by a weather vane. Built near the old lighthouse destroyed during the Second World War, it bears the impacts of shells that hit it in 1945.
